Hourglass, Pear, Straight or Apple---Which one are you?

“How you feel about yourself is more important than how you look. Feeling confident, comfortable in your own skin—that’s what really makes you beautiful.”

-Bobbi Brown

“Each individual woman’s body demands to be accepted on its own terms”

 –Gloria Steinem

 Dressing for your Body Type

Do you know your body type? It's important to figure this out. You can enhance your figure if you're dressing correctly. So many woman struggle with this including myself. For a long while I stopped caring what I looked like. Throwing on jeans and tee. It takes a lot of effort to get yourself put together.
I have found the days I stay in my pj's and for go the shower my days aren't as productive.  However the days that I get up and get myself put together I feel much better about myself. I get more done and feel more like me. Granted how wonderful this sounds it is still difficult to be able to accomplish this each day.
I made a goal for myself--Get myself into shape enough to be comfortable wearing anything in my closet. I am on my way to making this happen and it's liberating. I also figured out what my body type is and what I should and shouldn't be wearing.

So lets break it down....

Hourglass-
(or minute glass in my case)

Your torso and hips are approximately the same width with waist definition

  Pear-

Your torso and upper body is smaller than  your hips with waist definition

Straight-

Your torso and upper body are the same width as your hips with little waist definition

Apple-

Your torso and upper body are wider than your hips with little or no waist definition

Clothing you can and can't get away with wearing....

Hourglass- You can pretty much where anything and pull it off

Pear- You want to stay away from tight fitting clothes and scooped necks. Straight leg is a better choice than skinny jeans. Boot cut is a great balance for you. v-necks  and crew necks are very flattering.

Straight- You want to give the illusion you have curves, you can wear any pant and neck line for the most part.

Apple- You want to wear tops that are fitted to give you a natural waist. Stay away from skinny jeans. You may risk looking like the Scientist from "Despicable Me" :)

Things to avoid no matter what your body type...

- Don't squish the love

- Wear your actually size, not the size you say you are or the size you want to try and squeeze into. You will look much hotter if your wear the right size. Remember no one knows your size but you.

So once you figure out your body type...then what? I for one like to look trend and vintage in my case but we will talk about trendy for now. I want the look but don't want to have to pay the price. Don't be afraid to hit thrift stores, garage sales, clearance racks and clothing exchanges are great places to start. Be careful if you go to Good Will a lot of times you can get it new for cheaper at the store it's self. You never want to over pay if you don't have to. Also, never never never pay full price for anything. It will go on sale at some point or you can find a coupon.

I still have a lot to learn about fashion but I just wanted to share somethings that I have learned. I think we all struggle to feel comfortable in our own skin. I don't just want to feel good in my own skin but I want to look foxy too!

You know you’re a mom when....

You are covered in snot and slim by the end of the day
You wake up from every little noise at night
Your arm is as asleep as the child in your arms
Your heart pounds at a cry or a scream
You stay up late just to watch your child sleep
You are a dinosaur, Elmo, Ninja Turtle and a Tonka Truck all in the same day
A kiss can fix any Boo-boo
You have changed a bazillion diapers
Your house is a mess and you can’t remember the last time you showered
Your child’s laughter is music to your ears
You check for monsters under the bed
You know your child’s voice, cry and laugh in a crowd
You pray for your child each day and night
You complain about the noise but want to wake them early because it’s too quiet
Your child’s smile can brighten any day
You dance just because they are
You take pictures of everything not wanting to miss a moment
You child is your entertainment on a Friday night
Going to bed at 8:30PM seems late
You miss them even when you’re with them
You cry because you’re overwhelmed
You laugh when you shouldn’t
You’re both happy and sad at their milestones
You will do anything and everything to protect them
You loved them before you met them

Being a mother is the greatest gift ever given. The good, the bad and the ugly; and in most case messy and sticky. I wouldn’t change it for a second. Sure some days are hard at times and I complain but at the end of the day my children will always be the best gift ever given. My children’s smiles will still brighten a bad day and my kisses will still fix any boo-boo. Each day I wake-up proud to be a mom, and feel so blessed that Heavenly Father trusted me with their lives.
I look up to so many wonderful Moms out there and I thank you for being the Moms that you are and setting such a great example. Enjoy each and every moment with your children, each moment that passes is one you can never get back.

Start Where You Stand And Get Healthy

Over the last couple weeks I have really committed to get myself healthy, eating right and staying active. Something I've always want to do but instead would shove yummy wonderful high calorie and fatty foods into my face and love it!! Even though in those moments food was making me so happy and I love to eat but it was time for a change...
Its different for everyone but for me it is time, and it has been hard and at moments I just want to say forget it and shove 10 cookies in my face. However, my body is liking me again. I feel better and slowly my body is learning to like this new life style. I have lost 7lbs and have a little bit more to go till I can fit into my goal jeans again.
I was having a hard time doing this on my own so my wonderful husband decided it was time for him too, so we have been working on getting healthy together. Thank goodness!
First we downloaded an app "Lose it" there are many out there I am sure but I like the way this one is set up. Second we started to change what we buy to eat and really pay attention to calories and what is the best choice.
Its never to late to start and is never the wrong time to start...just start where you stand and make it happen. just remember anything that is worth doing is going to be hard at times but you are always stronger then you realize!

Here is a recipe that we through together, I am sure there is an actual recipe out there but this is what we did and it is so yummy we have it two nights in a row.

Veggie Stir-fry

Recipe: For 2

2 Teaspoons Olive Oil (80 calories)
1 Green Peppers- chopped (28 calories)
1 1/2 cup Broccoli (82 calories)
1 1/2 cup Cauliflower (43 calories)
1 1/2 cup Carrots (25 calories)
1 1/2 cup Fresh Green Beans-cut (51 calories)
3 large eggs (opt) (210 calories)
Chicken (opt) (142 calories, may vary)

Total: 309 calories just veggies (154 per serving), 519 with eggs (260 per serving), 661 calories with eggs and chicken (330 per serving), 451 calories veggies and chicken only (225 per serving)

Pour Olive Oil into a large skillet, on Medium heat. Cut and wash all veggies and pour into pan. Stir occasionally. In separate pan scramble eggs (add at the end). Cook chicken in cubes in separate pan (add at end). Mix all together and enjoy. My kiddo's love this dish too!

You can add-Zucchini, snap peas and any other veggie you may like. If you want zucchini it cooks faster then the rest, wait until about 8 minutes into cooking to add them.
