Dressing for your Body Type
Do you know your body type? It's important to figure this out. You can enhance your figure if you're dressing correctly. So many woman struggle with this including myself. For a long while I stopped caring what I looked like. Throwing on jeans and tee. It takes a lot of effort to get yourself put together.
I have found the days I stay in my pj's and for go the shower my days aren't as productive. However the days that I get up and get myself put together I feel much better about myself. I get more done and feel more like me. Granted how wonderful this sounds it is still difficult to be able to accomplish this each day.
I made a goal for myself--Get myself into shape enough to be comfortable wearing anything in my closet. I am on my way to making this happen and it's liberating. I also figured out what my body type is and what I should and shouldn't be wearing.
So lets break it down....
Hourglass-
(or minute glass in my case)
Your torso and hips are approximately the same width with waist definition
Pear-
Your torso and upper body is smaller than your hips with waist definition
Straight-
Your torso and upper body are the same width as your hips with little waist definition
Apple-
Your torso and upper body are wider than your hips with little or no waist definition
Clothing you can and can't get away with wearing....
Hourglass- You can pretty much where anything and pull it off
Pear- You want to stay away from tight fitting clothes and scooped necks. Straight leg is a better choice than skinny jeans. Boot cut is a great balance for you. v-necks and crew necks are very flattering.
Straight- You want to give the illusion you have curves, you can wear any pant and neck line for the most part.
Apple- You want to wear tops that are fitted to give you a natural waist. Stay away from skinny jeans. You may risk looking like the Scientist from "Despicable Me" :)
Things to avoid no matter what your body type...
- Don't squish the love
- Wear your actually size, not the size you say you are or the size you want to try and squeeze into. You will look much hotter if your wear the right size. Remember no one knows your size but you.
So once you figure out your body type...then what? I for one like to look trend and vintage in my case but we will talk about trendy for now. I want the look but don't want to have to pay the price. Don't be afraid to hit thrift stores, garage sales, clearance racks and clothing exchanges are great places to start. Be careful if you go to Good Will a lot of times you can get it new for cheaper at the store it's self. You never want to over pay if you don't have to. Also, never never never pay full price for anything. It will go on sale at some point or you can find a coupon.
I still have a lot to learn about fashion but I just wanted to share somethings that I have learned. I think we all struggle to feel comfortable in our own skin. I don't just want to feel good in my own skin but I want to look foxy too!
